Microsecond Discharge Produced in Aqueous Solution for Pollutant Cr(VI) Reduction

This paper presents a detailed analysis of underwater electrical discharge parameters in the treatment chromium (VI) used as model pollutant to analyze reduction process by plasma liquid interaction (PLI). Pin-to-pin microsecond discharges were performed an aqueous Cr(VI) solution and processes characterized using measurements, optical imaging UV-Vis absorption measurements for [Cr(VI)] estimation. For first time, total was successfully achieved PLI maximum energy yield 4.7 × 10−4 g/kJ obtained. Parametric studies on electrode geometry, applied voltage, electrodes gap pulse duration are presented detail. Finally, is proposed comparing our results calculation based injected with those literature providing estimation global efficiency process.
